Little Bees: Outdoor Stay & Play Group

Welcome to Little Bees: Outdoor Stay & Play Group!!!

We are so excited to connect and create lasting community

*Please thoroughly read our Community Guidelines below*

Little Bees is a relaxed, nature-based gathering for holistically minded families. These guidelines help keep the space safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone.

IF THERE ARE ANY CANCELLATIONS IT WILL POSTED TO OUR FACEBOOK PAGES: of The HIve and Little Bees - otherwise we will meet every Tuesday, no matter the weather.

We’re so excited to be starting a rain-or-shine, outdoors, Stay & Play-style group for little ones (age 0-6) at our home and community space.

This space is for families who believe in slow childhood, unschooling/homeschooling, homesteading, alternative medicine/holistic health, the importance of outdoor play and community-based parenting.

We’re envisioning littles getting to explore

the land with a whole circle of caregivers watching out, babies on blankets, sharing snacks, muddy boots, and the caregivers connecting.

If you’re a homeschooling, homesteading, or alternative-minded family looking for like-hearted community, this may be a beautiful fit.

It definitely is NOT for you if:

- uncovered breastfeeding bothers you

- you want to use the connection time as a space to complain or talk about doctors visits and giving power over to “experts”

- you are looking for a highly structured/scheduled or instructor-led program

- you prefer indoor, climate-controlled play spaces that are bug free

- messy outdoor play (mud, dirt, sticks, bugs) and clothing isn’t your thing

- you hoping for drop-off childcare rather than caregiver-present connection

Not sorry!

There will be a suggested donation of $5/child and a mandatory waiver to sign your first time.

Emily & Finn

GUIDELINES

Caregiver Presence

• This is a caregiver-present playgroup, not childcare.

• Children must be supervised by their caregiver at all times.

Respect the Land

• Please pack in and pack out everything you bring.

• Help with community clean up at the end of playgroup.

• Return any Hive equipment to where it was found.

• Please treat the land, animals, gardens, and shared resources with care.

Property Boundaries

• This gathering takes place outdoors only.

• Please do not enter residential or indoor community spaces.

• Use the outhouse for restrooms.

Garden Areas

• Children and caregivers may not enter the fenced garden area unless Emily is leading a guided garden tour or activity.

• The dahlia garden should not be entered without close supervision, and flowers should not be picked.

Woods & Natural Areas

• Children should not enter the woods without direct adult supervision.

• Some areas contain old farm dump remnants (glass or metal) that are dangerous and accessible in piles in certain areas of the woods, and may occasionally surface in other areas after rain.

Animals

• Children may not enter the fenced dog yard.

• Please do not open gates or fences.

• Children may not enter the chicken coop or feed animals.

Please do not bring your own animals or pets to playgroup.

Outdoor Awareness

This is a natural environment and may include:

• poison ivy or poison oak

• stinging insects

• uneven terrain

• occasional glass from the old farm dump near the fire pit or playground area

Shoes are recommended in these areas.

Food & Allergies

• Please do not share snacks without checking with caregivers first.

• Families are responsible for advocating for their own allergies or sensitivities, as this space is not allergy-free.

Community Culture

• Bullying or unsafe behavior will not be tolerated and will be addressed.

• Uncovered breastfeeding is welcomed and normalized in this space.

• This gathering is not intended to be a place for discussing or giving Western medical advice.

Health

Please stay home if you or your child are sick, have anything contagious, or if someone in your household is recently ill.

Weather

Little Bees is rain or shine - please dress for outdoor play.

Community Contribution

A $5 per child contribution is suggested to support the space and materials.

If this is temporarily out of reach, please still come - community is more important than payment.

However, $5 is accessible for most families, and we ask that you please honor the hard work and opening of our property through this small energy exchange whenever possible.

Care of Property

Families are responsible for the actions of themselves and their children while attending.

Any damage to property, gardens, equipment, structures, animals, or materials may be the responsibility of that family to repair or replace.

Community Safety

Little Bees takes place on private property.

If guidelines are repeatedly ignored, boundaries are not respected, or behavior becomes unsafe or disruptive, the host reserves the right to ask a family to leave in order to protect the safety and integrity of the space and community.

We hope this helps give an idea of expectations and requirements for attendees

***There will be a mandatory waiver and participation agreement to be signed at your first visit including all of this and some additional info - it should be read thoroughly.***
